What is Our Mission?

"I learned in four years what some people don't learn in a lifetime. I learned love, friendship, responsibility, leadership, volunteering, eternal laughter, deep devotion, self esteem, and the joy of acting. These are the things I will use for the rest of my life: in all my job searches, in travel, in college and in the family I will someday have."

Andy's Summer Playhouse exists solely to provide children with a variety of experiences designed to foster and develop their appreciation, understanding of, and sense of commitment to the continued existance and livelihood of the arts as a vital component of community life. The mission of Andy's is to help young people celebrate their natural sensitivity, creativity and unique view of the world, thus aiding in their psychological, emotional and personal development.

Andy's affords children an opportunity to:

• Be responsible to and for something larger than themselves.
• Create a viable work of art recognized by all ages.
• Understand, through experience, the importance and the nature of creative, artistic self-expression.
• Work with professional artists to present to the community at large an artistic experience of high quality.
• Develop a lifelong appreciation of and need for the arts in community life.

The single, most important guiding principle is an unrelenting faith in the integrity, dignity and importance of children and their point of view.
