Among his plays is the award-winning comedy Bald Diva!, a parody of Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano, which opened the Fresh Fruit Festival and won two festival awards: Best Writing and Best Play. Bald Diva! was remounted at The Red Room where it enjoyed a sold-out run, was named one of “the best plays of the season” by Talkin’ Broadway, and was listed as number 3 in the Top Ten Theatrical Events On or Off Broadway in 2004 by Theatre Mania. Bald Diva! was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award and will be published by NYTE this August. David’s full length plays include Alice, the Cook’s Tour (which has enjoyed several workshop readings with Estelle Parsons and Marylouise Burke), and Baby Rattle. He’s received several screenplay commissions and has written three television pilots. His latest screenplay, Busboys, was a finalist for the Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab earlier this year. David received his master’s degree from Columbia University and his BA from Queens College, where he graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
