MacDowell Colony Resident Jennifer Barclay gives workshop!

Jennifer Barclay explains The Viewpoints to a group of eager Andy's kids.

On July 1st, Andy's was graced with the presence of Jennifer Barclay, a current resident of MacDowell Colony. Barclay donated her expertise to the Andy's community by leading a Viewpoints Workshop in which students explored the physical lives of their bodies on stage through the nine Viewpoints: shape, gesture, repetition, topography, kinesthetic response, tempo, duration, spatial relationship, and architecture. 

Barclay is an actor-turned-playwright, formerly based in Chicago and California. Her work has been produced and developed nationally and internationally by Steppenwolf, La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Glove, International Theater of Vienna, Moving Arts, Theatro Vista, RedCat, The Edinburgh Fringe, The Kennedy Center, Samuel French, Piven Theatre Workshop, Remy Bumppo, Red Tape, American Theatre Company, Moxie, Stage Left, The Source and Collaboration, among others. As an actor, Barclay has performed in Austria, Scotland, Chicago, California and New York, and has toured her one-woman show, Clearing Hedges, nationally and internationally. She is on staff at the University of Maryland: College Park as an Assistant Professor in the school of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies.
